Why the limits matter
A space saver is narrower than a normal tyre, so it has less grip and changes how the car brakes and corners. Some cars' stability systems also behave differently with one fitted.
Get the proper tyre sorted
Don't treat a space saver as a permanent fix. We can come to you and repair or replace the original tyre, then put the space saver back in the boot.
Common questions
Can I use a space saver on the motorway?
Yes, but stay under the speed limit printed on the wheel, usually 50mph, and keep to the left-hand lane.
Does a space saver affect braking?
It can. The narrow tyre has less grip, so leave more stopping distance and avoid sharp braking and cornering until a proper tyre is fitted.
